We Won A Telly Award!
A few years ago I got a call from a friend of a friend who asked if I would be willing to edit a video for her. Her name was Tara and she was really nice, but also very upfront, saying that this would be a challenging project. She said the client we would be working with was raising funds for a new school campus and had some iPhone/handicam videos from people’s camera rolls to put together into a story to show donors what they were giving towards.
We were eager to help, and set out on a journey with Harbor Day School to help them tell this story of transformation.
That first video was a success and the donors they showed it to fell in love with the vision of the school. Sometimes it isn’t about having all the lights and cameras, story will always be king. They ended up bringing us back to do another video. Then another, and another!
Four years went by and what began with a few videos sourced from parents and faculty members, turned into what is now the second largest K-8 campus capital campaign in American history! Over that time, we told many stories from different view points, using more creative ways of capturing student’s experiences with the way we filmed.
The final video in the campaign was a reveal video of the completed campus, and it was special! The day of the reveal you could feel the excitement and anticipation as the ribbon was cut and the students and parents toured the new, state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind facility! It was an honor to have worked with them for so long to see this dream come true and to actually stand in the rooms we had told stories of what they could look like. It was a magical experience putting together a video that would be a “legacy piece” for the school!
We pulled out all the stops for this final video; multi-camera crew, gimbals, drone pilot, photographers, audio team—the works. And we are pretty happy with the way it came together.
Turns out, some other people thought so too, and this last week Streammy.co received a national award for the Harbor Day School Campus Reveal video. We won a Silver Telly award in the category of Educational Branded Content!
While very excited about this and humbled at the opportunity to work with such an amazing school and incredible people on their team, the award made it even more special. We are honored to have this award and recognize that it was given to us because of an amazing team all working together on a common goal. That goal was to tell an incredible story of an incredible place. The plan worked!
